If you're going to host crazy awesome deals for us foreigners, maybe try to borrow a server that can handle us? I want to spend money at your store, but I can't even get to my shopping cart.

Should DC sell single tickets? [21 Aug 2008|10:53pm]

dragoncon

[rick_day]
Suppose there is a band. This band is very popular. The band begged for months to play DragonCon. So popular that a few months ago
they were scheduled to play the sold-out 3500 seat Tabernacle, and had
to move to Masquerade due to Tornado damage. So popular a band, fans
camped out all day, and the crowd outside that could not get in that
night equaled the indoor crown. The act was so popular they could have
done two shows.

Now, imagine when the fans of this band hear they are playing a 'free
show' at DragonCon? Well, they plunk down $40 (just slightly more than
they would pay for a concert ticket), and head straight to the
ballroom where the band is playing, and camp out all day.

All Day.

We are talking thousands. Then, of course, after the show they all get
to roam the halls and hit the parties and all that free booze, mock
the costumers, etc...

Now, lets say you are a fan of this band and you have a 4 day pass.
You decide to allocate an hour to stand in line at this free concert,
only to be met with pandemonium.

Think of the security nightmare of non-congoers clashing with the
hoards of con folk. One timers who may or may not trash the place, not
caring about the damage done to the Con in general because of a few
hundred wild drunks who could give two sh*ts about the reputation of
the con.

Can anyone think of a band that is playing the Con on Sunday that fits
this description? Can anyone imagine such a scenario?

No wonder the DC moderators would not allow this to be discussed.
Fortunately, we have more freedom on this forum.

And this, IMHO very real scenario is the reason why DragonCon should
only sell 4 day passes.

Baby LP sale [22 Aug 2008|11:15am]

egl

[atilla_thehoney]
Just to let you know at 11:15 am Japan time the Baby site had the add to cart buttons up for the LP. Still can't order em til noon (i checked said my cart was empty) but at least the page has been updated with the buttons now!

**EDIT** about 5 minutes ago my "add to cart" buttons stopped giving me the pink box of doom...in fact they stopped going anywhere. I think Baby was made aware that their site was taking orders early and pulled the virtual plug for a few more minutes.

Question about Froggy's Photography [21 Aug 2008|09:22pm]

dragoncon

[kayra42]
Never having done the professional photo route at DragonCon before, I'm thinking about it for a couple of the guests this year. From previous comments I've seen, Froggy's work is very good. I'm curious about who he is. There were rumors a couple of years ago that Julie Caitlin Brown's husband was taking professional photos. Is this the same guy? Different people totally?

If I'm going to pay that kind of money, I'd like to know who it is going to. :-) Other than the guests. One would think they get a cut.

thanks!!

Questions regarding DCTV Relay [21 Aug 2008|08:35pm]

dragoncon

[stigmund]
[ mood | curious ]

I apologize if this was ever addressed before, but I haven't see it mentioned at this point:

Dragon*Con is replaying a good deal of its high-profile panels this year at different times so that we can make sure to maximize our con-going experience. For this I applaud them greatly.

However, I have a question that hopefully somebody on staff can answer for me (perhaps even the DC*TV people can address this): If these panels are being recorded for rebroadcast, will they eventually be available for purchase/download/etc. during or after the con? I ask, because even with the replays, I'm STILL bogged down with soooo many good panels this year. Thus, I am hoping I can alleviate some pressure by skipping over some panels I know I can view at a later date.

I have seen some tracks occasionally do this in the past, so I am assuming it's not entirely against D*C policy nor something totally objected to by the guests.

If it just turns out that D*C hasn't considered it, I would greatly encourage them looking into it, as it may become another viable source of income.

Thanks for any information!

If you're interested in TF2 at all, you should really Meet the Sandvich.

Oh, and if you like fantasy football and games based on it, check out (via my referral link so I get points!) Goal Line Blitz. It's kinda fun... you make a player and choose how to train him. The best part is it only takes like 1-5 minutes of play time per day! On the other hand, if you're a football nerd, you could probably watch/read a bunch of the plays and build a very specific player(s) that are better than what I am doing. There's some guides and wikis on it and stuff, which may help.

Mostly, just sign up so I can get points to boost my players, cuz I'm not doing so hot! =P

Gail Kim [21 Aug 2008|07:04pm]

dragoncon

[eoywin]
My huband loves wrestling, TNA in particular. So he asked me today if Gail Kim was still coming to Dragon*Con, and I said that I thought so.

The reason he asked was that it seems like she is no longer in TNA - apparently her picture and bio is off the TNA website.

Does anyone know if this development will affect her coming to Dragon*Con??

Lolitafied Rooms? [21 Aug 2008|06:17pm]

If there's a topic on this already, please tell me and I will delete it!

Does anyone loli-fy their bedrooms? If you do, feel free to share pictures of your room with the rest of us! :> Where do you buy things for your room?

I love love lovee Pottery Barn (kids and teen), but the prices are a bit too high for me. I also like Target's "Simply Shabby Chic" collections.

If you don't decorate your room, what about describing your dream room?

Mine is this one. ;___;

I would kill to have a room like that.
So..expensive.. OTL

-----------------

A little on the off note, I've been searching for French style chairs or armchairs, preferably made with a pink cloth. I found a chair (not an armchair) that I absolutely loved. It was a pink velvet tufted antique chair, and sold in a pair for $650. The seating was very comfortable. My father didn't approve though, because he thought it would fall apart any minute. I'm also considering looking for a chair with a nice fabric and repainting the frame with gold or white. Does anyone have experience doing such thing? I'm afraid of ruining it.

Does anyone know how to look for chairs like these? I'll include a few pictures of what I'm talking about

If you have Firefox, there are a few tricks you can use to saving valuable seconds during your ordering process.

AutoFormer

This add-on will allow you to save form information. Enter your contact information and save it, then when the time comes, just load the page and Auto Former will fill in all fields with your saved information.

Check4Change

This add-on will monitor any changes on a page and alert you. Do remember, that you must leave the website open in a tab as it will not monitor a page if you close the page it is on. The moment the web page is updated you will be alerted.

Both of these add-ons will save you much time. Good luck ladies!
